Principal Areas of PracticeMark graduated from the University of Otago with a double degree majoring in Law and Economics. In 2001 Mark moved to Ireland, where he worked for a global firm in Dublin. Mark supplemented his experience in Ireland by obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Finance Law. Mark held a senior role in the commercial department of that firm for 2½ years, before returning to New Zealand.
Mark has remained committed to ongoing professional development which supplements his existing knowledge and experience in securities, stock exchange and market regulation. Mark regularly advises on compliance with the Securities Act 1978 and the Securities Regulations 1983 including drafting prospectuses, investment statements, information memorandums, associated documentation and undertaking verification.
During his time in Ireland, Mark worked closely with a range of public and private companies in Ireland, the United Kingdom and America developing a wealth of specialist corporate and commercial knowledge and experience. Mark has worked on share and asset acquisitions and dispositions, restructuring, mergers, amalgamations, buyouts and earn outs, private equity and venture capital investment. His experience in mergers and acquisitions also includes conducting and reporting on due diligence investigations. .
As a part of the firm’s commercial property team Mark advises on and documents the acquisition, disposition, leasing and redevelopment of commercial properties including syndicated investments, joint ventures and due diligence exercises. This work complements Marks specialist areas of commercial and securities law.
In addition Mark has an established intellectual property law practice including trade mark registrations, oppositions, licensing, copyright law, technology acquisitions, dispositions and licensing. As part of this practice Mark has a developing practice in advising on and negotiating sponsorship and endorsement contracts for sports bodies, commercial sponsors and individuals.
