We are taking practical steps to protect our clients, staff, families and the wider community from the spread of COVID-19 under the New Zealand Government COVID-19 Protection Framework (currently RED).  We are able to meet with fully vaccinated clients in our offices by appointment only as we are currently operating with half our team in the office and half our team from home.  We will make alternative arrangements (phone, email & video conference) for clients not fully vaccinated, or not willing to provide their vaccination status.  Appointments are required to be made in advance.  A face covering is required to be worn while visiting our offices. {mds} law > COVID-19

From 3 December 2021 the New Zealand Government introduced its COVID-19 Protection Framework (CPF) as a means of providing a structured approach to enable businesses and its staff and clients to undertake their usual activities as normally as possible whilst minimising the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Christchurch is currently operating under the Red level of the CPF - used when there is increasing community transmission of COVID-19, the health system is under increasing pressure to cope, and there is an increasing risk to the public.

Because of this increasing risk to the public, and our concern for the health and well-being of our clients, staff and visitors, MDS Law has assessed our practice as being a "close-contact business" due to the way we meet with clients and the amount of time spent in close proximity, and has accordingly adopted the following policy for all visitors to our offices, or those attending an MDS Law event:
  • All visitors, including contractors, to the MDS Law offices are required to sign in as a visitor on our Vistab management system; and
  • An appropriate face mask is to be worn at all times while on-site; and
  • Social distancing protocols of at least 1 metre are to be observed.
This policy also applies for staff making off-site visits and requires that any person that our staff is meeting with also wears a face mask, and observes the social distancing protocols.

What this means for you

Our attendances are currently by appointment only.  As we are currently working with a reduced staff presence in our office, we are unable to attend on walk in visitors.

Please arrange an appointment before arriving at our office.  Upon arrival please sign in as a visitor (please note this is to comply with our usual health and safety requirements, and is not a specific COVID-19 requirement).  Please sanitise your hands.

Our staff are all fully vaccinated, and we have implemented this policy because we believe that, at this time, it is the most appropriate way we can provide a safe workplace for our staff and visitors, and how we safely move into an environment with fewer restrictions for businesses, our communities and each of us personally.

We will continue to update and review our policy as the situation around COVID-19 evolves. Up-to-date information can be found on our website (this page).

We take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation as we implement this new policy. We acknowledge this has been a challenging time for many and look forward to continuing our work with you as we look towards the future.
