What I do

I am broadly experienced in most areas of property law, with a particular focus on residential conveyancing. However I also assist in areas such as wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, and a wide variety of other property matters.

Without a doubt, the most rewarding part of my job is working with first home buyers. For many of my clients, purchasing their first home is not only the largest single purchase of their life, but also the first time they are dealing with a lawyer. Therefore I do my best to ensure that every client, regardless of their background or experience, leaves our offices confident of that their legal needs are in safe hands.

How I like to work with clients

For a lot of people legal services can be intimidating. Therefore I make it my aim to “demystify” the law. I make sure that my clients see past the jargon, long documents and strange processes, and truly understand what they are doing and why they are doing it.

I believe that it is important that the client always feels like they are the ones in control. My job is firstly to listen, allowing me to understand your needs and goals without presuming anything. Then, after providing you with thoughtful and accurate advice, we work together towards your chosen solution.

My approach to client service

In my experience the better a client understands their issue, the law, and my advice on what to do about it, the more confident they feel when making a decision. Therefore I do my best to put clients at ease right from the get-go. My calm, collected approach gives you the freedom to ask me anything, even if it feels like a “silly question”, and that makes everyone better off in the long run.

What I like doing after hours

When I’m not at work I enjoy being outdoors. I’m originally from the North Island, so I love exploring all the natural beauty that the South Island has to offer with my wife. During the 2020 lockdown I began to teach myself classical guitar, and since the lockdown ended I have taken private lessons in this same style. I am also a keen follower of Formula 1 racing, particularly Lewis Hamilton and the McLaren team.
