What I do

I advise clients on a range of corporate and commercial work including business acquisitions and dispositions, finance, intellectual property and general commercial issues.

I have a particular interest in the law as it applies to retirement village developments including new and ongoing operations. This supplements the comprehensive retirement sector and elderly care legal services our firm offers.

I have a background in litigation, regulatory and advocacy experience which is of particular use advising clients in commercial and other disputes. I believe that helps clients by providing them commercially realistic and practical advice when conflicts arise.

Working with clients

I like to get alongside clients and work closely with them to achieve the outcomes they desire. It’s important to develop a good understanding of the client’s business and personal interests so that I am able provide advice that takes a client’s personal motivations into account.

Approach to client service

I like to ensure my clients’ service expectations are always met. I’m responsive and endeavour to provide advice that is practical and pragmatic and given in a context of accurate legal analysis.

I enjoy getting out and seeing clients, directly, rather than just dealing with people by telephone or email – as is increasingly becoming the way.

Out of Office

I enjoy getting out and into all that Christchurch and the South Island have to offer. I’m particularly keen on windsurfing, kayaking, biking and tramping. I have a young family and try to spend as much time with them as I can – this seems to be impacting on the amount of time devoted to my sporting interests however!
